RE: False Fire Alarms
Dear Residents:
Unfortunately the Parkmerced towers have recently had numerous False Fire Alarms. Not only does this put
a strain on the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) and potentially take them away from real
emergences, it is also very hard on the residents living in the towers.
The SFFD is not taking the false alarms lightly and anyone found deliberately activating the emergency fire
alarm will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The SFFD is also hereby charging the following
amounts: $250.00 for each false alarm that a fire vehicle responds to and an additional $500.00 if it is
accompanied by another emergency vehicle (ambulance). Please be advised that these charges will be
billed to the responsible parties.
Please note: Smoke from cooking, burning toast and etc. can set these alarms off in the hallways. Thus,
please do not open the front door to air out your apartment while cooking as the smoke will travel into the
hallway. Please air-out your apartment by opening the windows.
Parkmerced Management and the SFFD very much appreciate everyone’s cooperation in eliminating false
